Luke 1:26-38
Nothing is impossible as long as it is within the will and purpose of God. In this passage, the virgin Mary experienced the transformative power of God through faith in God’s word. You also can bring God’s purpose and naturally impossible agenda into fulfilment by activating the transformative power of faith.
In the Bible, we read of many acts of faith that turned ugly situations around into God’s rich fulfilment in the life of individuals. See some examples of where the transformative power of faith was activated:
- The wedding at Canaan – Water turned to wine – John 2:1-11
- The centurion’s servant that was healed – Matthew 8:5-13
- The miraculous catch of fish – Luke 5:1-11
- The woman with the issue of blood – Mark 5:25-34
- The two blind men that received their sight – Matthew 9:27-31
- The gentile woman’s demon-possessed daughter that was healed – Mark 7:24-30
God’s word and instructions carry the power for unprecedented breakthroughs for those who will believe and act on His word. The synopsis of the passage is very interesting.
- The angel Gabriel’s greeting highlighted Mary’s position which even she was not aware of – “Rejoice, highly favoured one, the Lord is with you: blessed are you among women” – Luke 1:26-28. If Mary’s status at this time did not reveal this greeting. She was not outwardly carrying this status.
- The statement in Luke 1:29-34, by angel Gabriel spoke about something that would confuse the natural mind. It seemed so impossible! We have to learn and understand that anything is possible even when we have never heard or seen it before when we are walking with God.
- The good thing about the Lord is that when you set your eyes on Him in that circumstance, He will confirm His promise again in more details and give instructions on what would happen next – Luke 1:35-37
- The breakthrough rolls into manifestation when one acts on the instruction given. Exodus 14:15
Every great promise of the Lord is available to those who would believe and act on His word – James 1:17-18
Discussion:
- Looking at some of the examples in the bullet points above, what do you think strengthened their faith to receive the promise? Hebrews 6:12
- 1 Chronicles 12:32 | Luke 1:39-45 – The scripture verses talk about knowing what to do next. How does a believer gain a heart of wisdom and discernment? Philippians 1:9-11
- Faith is sometimes first exercised by confession/declaration. Does this declaration help our belief and if you believe it does – explain why?
- We are called to be hearers and doers of God’s word – James 1:22. Faith without works is dead – James 2:26. What are we to do, if there is a delay? Does it mean that not every word is for a believer?
- Why do people doubt and go for less of God in their situation?
Prayer.
