Psalm 89:20-37

Today is a follow-up of the topic we studied last week. It is possible to have an experience of an event but not to enjoy that event. Many people have heard God’s word spoken to them but have not been able to reap the benefits of His promises. In Bible scriptures, we can see that God is faithful to all His words and promises – Deuteronomy 7:9 | Isaiah 49:7 | 1 Corinthians 10:13 | 2 Corinthians 1:18 | 1 Thessalonians 5:24 | 2 Thessalonians 3:3. The scripture passages read, gives us a deeper dimension of God’s faithfulness and brings us into an understanding of the covenant keeping God.

God is faithful to all His promises and keeps His covenant till the end. The question with your faith, confession, and action is that “will we partake of, or will we enjoy” His promises?

Let us look at some people who experienced and enjoyed God’s faithfulness and consider the criteria employed by these individuals.

  1. Enoch – Genesis 5:21-24

  2. Noah – Genesis 6:5-8

  3. Abraham – Genesis 12:1-7 | Genesis 14:18-20 | Genesis 15:1-6 | Genesis 17:1-8 | Genesis 18:16-19 | Genesis 22:12-17

  4. Samuel – 1 Samuel 1:11 | 1 Samuel 1:27 | 1 Samuel 2:11, 18, 26 | 1 Samuel 3:19-21 | 1 Samuel 7:15

  5. David – 1 Samuel 16:1, 11-13 | 1 Samuel 17:34-37, 45-46, 50 | 2 Samuel 17:1-17

  6. The Twelve Disciples – Matthew 10:1-3 | Mark 3:13-19 | Mark 16:20 | Luke 6:12-16 | Luke 10:19 | Acts 1:8 | Acts 2:1-4

  7. Paul (former Saul) – Acts 9:1-16 | Acts 9:26-31

It is evident that the people above with the matriarchs and patriarchs of faith mentioned in Hebrews 11 experienced and enjoyed the faithfulness of God.

Discussion:

  1. In addition to their faith in the Word of God, looking at everyone what are the qualities and virtues they exhibited, or we can glean from them?

  2. Faith, Bold Declaration of God’s Word and Total Conviction to step out on God’s word are common factors to accomplish greatness in God. How can a believer best prepare to attain this level of trust in the Lord?

  3. God fulfils His promises and keeps His Covenant, and this does not depend on human performance. Looking at David, king of Israel with the naked eyes, one would say he did all that were abhorrent, but God still kept His word – why do you think God did this?

  4. Read Romans 6:1-14

Prayer.
