SACRIFICIAL LIFE

1 John 3:16-17 | Galatians 2:20 | Galatians 5:24

Introduction:

Biblically, sacrificial living is the act of consecrating or presenting to God by way of propitiation or as a token acknowledgment or thanksgiving to immolate on the altar of God.

As Christians, we must always remember what Jesus Christ did for us. He is our perfect sacrifice. He died on the cruel cross of Calvary to pay for our sins; to redeem us from slavery to sin and to the devil – John10:10 | Romans 5:23.

We must always remember how much God loves us that He sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might have eternal life – John 3:16- 17 | 1 John 4:9-10.

To understand this great love, we must have a right relationship with God and one another – 1 John 4:14-15.

Sacrificial living means giving our time, talents, and resources for the benefits of others.

Are you able to sacrifice your life for others?

We must think about this question every time to understand what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us – John 15:13.

To obey God’s commands as a privilege rather than a burden, we must love God as He loves us. We must also love one another as Christ loves us so that we can reveal God’s message of love and salvation to the world.

Conclusion:

Christians must endeavour to focus on God’s act of love, and we must realise that this love is sacrificial, eternal, and unconditional.

We are bound to show love to others as Christ demonstrated His love to us.

Let’s read Galatians 2:20. Let’s meditate on this, especially for the rest of this month and always.

May God grant us the grace to live this sacrificial life and may His love, favour, mercy, and peace be realised in our lives in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Discussion:

  1. What do you understand by sacrificial life? Galatians 5:24.
  2. Read John 3:16, John 15:3, Jeremiah 31:3 & 1 John 4:16. What is the Love of Christ?
  3. Why is it so difficult to love sacrificially? 1 John 3:16 | John 15:13.
  4. We are not to love the world and Money – 1 Timothy 6:10 | 1 John 2:15-17. How can we balance the need of money and our relationship with God and others as Christians?
  5. What are the ways we can be of service to others?

Prayer.
