WORD OF HIS POWER

Hebrews 1:1-4 | Psalm 33:6 | Hebrews 11:3

The story of creation is a mind-blowing account of the magnificence and power of God – for God spoke all things into existence. Genesis 1:3 – “Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light”. God spoke all that we see into existence by the power of His Word. This is confirmation that failing to speak the Word of God that creates is unacceptable for a believer. Interestingly, we were created in the image and likeness of God and every time as believers, with faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we declare God’s word, the hosts of heaven bows to bring the declaration into manifestation. Failure to discover and declare God’s word over our situation is an acceptance of defeat. This does not please the God of heaven who sent His Son to redeem us from destruction.

In another light, reading John 1:1-14, it confirms that the absence of God’s word in our lives equals the absence of communion and fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, this is confirmation that the one is still in darkness.

Ecclesiastes 8:4 says that “Where the word of a king is, there is power; and who may say to him, “What are you doing?”. Every time a believer speaks the word of God, they invoke the power of God to save and to set free. This corroborates the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 107:20. The word of God is powerful. One powerful thing about our God is that He does not change His word and promises over His people – Psalm 138:2. He has exalted His word above all His name.

Something powerful about God’s word is that it produces and creates. Let a believer find a promise of God and begin to confess that word day and night. The word will produce for that believer according to its contents and much more. This is the reason the adversary does not want us to study or know God’s word that will liberate us from all evil schemes. We must not be ignorant of the enemy’s devices.

Finally, all that God expects of us is to declare His word with boldness and faith in our hearts. It is God who will work with us to perform His word with signs and wonders. In Isaiah 55:11 – “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”.  All God is asking is for us to lend him our mouths to declare His promises over our lives. We are overcomers in this world.

Discussion:

  1. Hebrews 4:12-13 – the Word of God is to help correct and judge our actions. See 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

  2. Faith in God’s word is a major pillar in our walk with God – for without faith it is impossible to please God.
Hebrews 11:6 | Romans 10:17. How do we grow our faith? Does sharing the good news of Christ help?

  3. Matthew 12:34-35 | Ephesians 4:29-32 | Psalm 19:14 – What are the wider implications of these statements?

  4. Psalm 68:11 | Matthew 28:18-20 | Mark 16:15-18 – This is the great commission. What are the other things we must do as a Church to preach the gospel of Christ?
